Mark and Donna Burdette Home, Montclair

Upon entry to the Montclair home guests are greeted in the entry or vestibule area with a beautiful Christmas Tree laden with Hallmark ornaments collected throughout twenty five years together.   Donna, the homeowner estimates that there are close to a thousand ornaments.  The office which is located directly off the main entry provides  a wonderful secluded area to quietly tend to business and  paperwork with an adjacent powder room.

The home is festooned throughout by spectacular floral arrangements from The Perfect Petal and the interior design is provided by Kourtney Smith at Bella Rouge housed together locally in The Village in Colleyville.  In The Living Room your eyes gravitate to a palette that’s warm and inviting.   The quintessential neutral tones and hues give you a sense of peace and well being.  There is a deep quiet inside the house.    Perhaps it is the rhythmic alternation of simple shapes giving the room it’s distinct character.   Three circles, the most harmonious shapes of all are featured in the Living Area at the end of the room.   The designer’s positive mood and creative energy is reflected in the home.  The house is unassuming and comfortable.  One outstanding feature is the curved butted glass overlooking the pool and patio area.   The wonderful view and use of natural luminous sunlight entices one outdoors to the lovely casual area.  The atmosphere is wonderful during the day, but at night with the Christmas lights aglow and twinkling, the ambiance and reflection they provide bouncing off the pool and butted glass is truly spectacular.

The Master Suite provides another quiet area with a lovely view of the pool and patio area.   More than an appendage to the house, the patio is integrated into the casual elements of life Burdette’s enjoy.    The Master Bath with it’s marble appointments and striking colors of reds, golds, green and taupe also lend themselves to the relaxed atmosphere.

Guests will be greeted by another Christmas tree at the top of the main staircase.   The daughter’s room is executed in a Moroccan theme with vivid colors of rust and pink.   There is a Juliet Balcony and weather permitting, guests will be allowed to take in the view.   The son’s room (Travis) has an even more spectacular view from his balcony that overlooks the pool area and also provides an incredible view of the canal from that vantage point.   Few people realize the elevation until they step on that balcony and observe the panorama.

The Theatre Room has recently been re-done adding bi-level area and carpeting along with purple walls and gold wallpaper on the ceiling mimicking old tin-style ceilings.  It is decorated with a funky old Hollywood style complete with elaborate drapes and tiebacks.  The five siblings in the family have selected 5 movie posters representing each of their favorite films and these adorn the walls.  There are influences of family and fond memories all over the house.

The Family Room, appropriately enough, holds a sports themed tree with pictures of each of the children throughout the years from earliest beginning years in soccer, baseball, football, ballet, dance all the way to the college years featuring UNT, Longhorns, Baylor.  This represents a wonderful preservation of not only the sports activities, but each of the children as well and is not to be missed.

Guests will exit after viewing the Family Room onto the patio where Mrs. Klaus’ Kitchen is set up and baked goods and hot dogs will be available for those in need of a little sustenance between viewing homes.  After exiting the patio area the vendors stationed there will offer the latest in holiday goodies and gifts for your perusal and shopping pleasure.
